This series is a reflection of a pivotal year in the lives of my three children and mine. Created in the first year post-divorce, these photographs explore the authentic and often unspoken experience of childhood in modern times. This project aims to respond to the Instagramification of our world, showcasing real lives and genuine emotions - fragments of joy, pain, silliness, quiet reflection, siblinghood, and the unique rhythms of our weekends together. Children’s inner lives are vast and full of wonder and complexity, yet art rarely gives them the same depth of attention as adults.
Shot on black-and-white film, the medium itself mirrors the constraints and intimacy of our time together. The deliberate pace of film photography with a manual focus camera allowed me to slow down, be fully present, and remember to pay attention to the details of our time together.
